Privacy Policy

FTC ScoutPro is a free scouting app for FIRST Tech Challenge, built by students on Fire Robotics (FTC Team #16953). We collect as little as possible: an email address and password if you choose to create an account, and nothing else about you.
Information we collect
You can browse the entire app — team rankings, statistics, match results, and events — without an account and without giving us any personal information.
If you choose to create an account so you can manage your own team, we collect:
- Email address. Used to identify your account and to send password-reset codes. Nothing else.
- Password. Stored only as a securely hashed value by our authentication provider. We never see or store your actual password.
- Your team claim. The single FTC team number your account manages.
- Team profile content you type. Robot details, strengths and weaknesses, alliance role, consistency rating, and strategy paths you draw for your own team.
What we do not collect
- No analytics, tracking, advertising, or third-party trackers of any kind.
- No location data, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access.
- No device advertising identifiers. We do not build user profiles, and we never sell data.
How your information is used
Your email is used solely to sign you in and to recover your account. Your team claim is used to enforce a simple rule: one account per team, so only your team can edit its own profile. Team profile content you enter is shown publicly in the app alongside that team, which is the purpose of scouting.
Where team and match data comes from
Team names, rankings, statistics, match results, and event schedules are public competition data retrieved from FTCScout.org. That information is about competition performance, not about app users, and we do not send any of your personal information to it.
Service providers
Accounts and team profiles are stored using Supabase, which hosts our database and handles authentication on our behalf. Your region preference and a local copy of team data are stored on your own device so the app works offline.
Deleting your data
You can permanently delete your account at any time, directly in the app: open the account icon → Delete Account. This immediately and permanently removes your account and email from our systems and releases any team you had claimed, making that team available for another account. This cannot be undone.
You can also release a claimed team without deleting your account, from the same screen.
Children’s privacy
FTC ScoutPro is intended for FIRST Tech Challenge participants, mentors, and spectators aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is fully usable without an account, so younger students can browse team and match data without providing anything. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Data security
All communication with our servers uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Database access is protected by row-level security rules so that only your account can modify your own team’s information.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the “last updated” date above.
